ADCES Announces Newly Elected National Leaders

ADCES members elect Gwen Klinkner to serve as president-elect in 2026, automatically becoming president in 2027. Others were elected to a variety of leadership positions.

CHICAGO, IL - The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES) announced its newly elected officials this morning at the association’s 2025 annual meeting in Phoenix, AZ. The newly elected members will begin their term of service on January 1, 2026.

Gwen Klinkner, DNP, RN, BC-ADM, CDCES, FADCES, has been chosen as the 2026 President-elect. Klinkner is a diabetes clinical nurse specialist at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, where she is responsible for inpatient diabetes care, education and quality initiatives and leads the Inpatient Diabetes Quality Committee. She has served in various volunteer and leadership roles within ADCES, including serving on the ADCES Board of Directors and the co-lead of the Inpatient Diabetes Management Community of Interest.

 Along with the newly elected officers and Board members, Katherine O’Neal, PharmD, MBA, BCACP, CDCES, BC-ADM, AE-C, CLS, FADCES, will officially begin her one-year term as acting President of the association on January 1.

The 2026 national leaders will work closely alongside ADCES staff leadership to serve the association’s members and will play a pivotal role in continuing the efforts outlined in ADCES’ 2024-2028 strategic plan.
